Beading Basics - $50
The focus of this class is to teach you the fundamental techniques and the basic tools you will need to create a pair of
interchangeable earrings and a beaded necklace with a sterling silver toggle clasp. With the basic bead stringing, findings
and finishing knowledge and wire wrapped loop skills learned in class, the necklace and earrings you create will serve as a
"template" as you continue to make more of your very own custom-crafted jewelry.
Approximate class time: 2 hours
Materials: Class fee includes ALL materials

This class is the perfect introduction to bead weaving. You will utilize the stringing and crimping techniques from Basic Bead
Stringing. Once we have the foundation strung up, the real fun begins! We will be using needle and thread to weave in and
out of the “base beads” to create a fun, spiky fringe.

The focus of this class is to learn the “Wrapped Loop,” a valuable technique to master so you can make your own unique
earrings, chains and pendants. We will also cover how to make different types of headpins which will help to make
your designs cost effective. The best way to learn is “Practice, Practice, Practice!” and that’s what we will be doing.

Materials: Class fee includes all materials; the practice wire as well as a small sampling of practice beads.
We have a wide selection of beads for sale to suit your style, or feel free to bring in your own beads; 8mm beads with
smaller holes are ideal but the technique is adaptable to nearly any bead that catches your eye.

Learn to make knots in between beads. This technique is classically used to string pearls, but all beads look great knotted
up. We will be using diamond point tweezers to place knots with precision. You will also learn how to use those clamshell
findings! The secret to perfecting this technique is PRACTICE.

We will provide the silk cord and clamshell findings.

This is an ancient, 8-strand Japanese braid. The technique is VERY SIMPLE to master but the final result is impressive in
its complexity.
Part I – We will use the bead spinner, which is a fun and fast way to string lengths of seed beads. This is an extremely fun
class, where “anything goes” when it comes to seed bead choice. The more beads you have in the mix the better!

Part II – We will braid the 8 lengths of seed beads using the Kumihimo board.
